Bronchiectasis

Bronchiectasis is described as an abnormal stretching and enlarging of the respiratory system. In other words we can say that the widening of the bronchi. Shortness of breath, serious illness including infections is the outcome of this disease.

Causes of Bronchiectasis

Bronchiectasis is caused by mucus blockage. Mucus becomes stuck and accumulates in the airways, when the body is unable to get rid of mucus. This is the cause of inflammation. This inflammation is responsible for weakening and widening of the passages. These weakened passages allow more mucus and bacteria which results cycle of infection.

Signs and symptoms

Fallowing are the symptoms of Bronchiectasis-
1) Bad breath
2) Coughing
3) Breathlessness
4) Tiredness
5) Anemia
6) morning cough
7) chronic cough
8) coughing blood

Treatment for Bronchiectasis

Antibiotic, postural drainage, chest physiotherapy are some treatment procedure for Bronchiectasis.In chest physiotherapy the patient being positioned in such a way that all the sputum drain away from the part of the lung which is affected. Auto-drainage, and forced expiratory technique are some other chest physiotherapy.

Prevention

Cigarette smoke is very harmful for any lung disease .so it is necessary to give up smoking. As soon as you identify the symptoms of Bronchiectasis and take treatment you can easily prevent your self from this disease. Try to avoid gases, smoke, injurious dusts toxic fumes to prevent from the Bronchiectasis.
