INFORMATION ON AMNESTIC DISORDER
The Amnestic disorders are a group of disorders that involve loss of memories, loss of the ability to create new memories, or loss of the ability to learn new information. The amnestic disorders are characterized by problems with memory function. There various symptoms associated with the amnestic disorders, as well as differences in the severity of symptoms.CAUSES OF AMNESTIC DISORDER
The various factors which are responsible for the development of amnestic disorder are:-1. Head trauma.
2. Tumors.
3. Stroke.
4. Cerebrovascular disease.
5. Alcoholism.
6. Long-term heavy drug use.
7. Exposure to toxins such as lead, mercury, carbon monoxide, and certain insecticides.
8. Vitamin deficiency.
SYMPTOMS OF AMNESTIC DISORDER
The various symptoms that are shown by amnestic disorder are:-1. Loss of memory.
2. Confusion.
3. Severe headache.
4. Speech problem.
DIAGNOSIS OF AMNESTIC DISORDER
Often, the disorder is diagnosed by a friend, relative, employer, or acquaintance of the patient has become concerned about the memory loss or recognizes that the patient is confabulating. The doctor will first examine the patient for signs or symptoms of traumatic injury, substance abuse, or a general medical condition. He or she may order imaging studies to identify specific areas of brain injury by:-1. CT scan.
2. MRI.
3. Blood test.
