INFORMATION ON ATTENTION DEFICIT HYPERACTIVITY SYNDROME
Attention deficit hyperactivity syndrome is one of the types of neurobehavioral disorder characterized by pervasive inattention and hyperactivity-impulsivity and resulting in significant functional impairment.
Attention deficit hyperactivity syndrome leads to failure to listen to instructions, inability to organize oneself and school work, fidgeting with hands and feet, talking too much, and having trouble paying attention to and responding to details.
CAUSES OF ATTENTION DEFICIT HYPERACTIVITY SYNDROME
The main factors which leads to the development of Attention deficit hyperactivity syndrome are:-

1. Due to hereditary.
2. Nutritional problem.
3. Alcohol.
4. Smoking.
5. Lead poisoning.
6. Allergies.
7. complication during pregnancy.
8. Head injuries.

SYMPTOMS OF ATTENTION DEFICIT HYPERACTIVITY SYNDROME
1. Failing to pay close attention to details or making careless mistakes when doing schoolwork or other activities .
2. Trouble keeping attention focused during play or tasks.
3. Appearing not to listen when spoken to
4. Failing to follow instructions or finish tasks .
DIAGNOSIS OF ATTENTION DEFICIT HYPERACTIVITY SYNDROME
Besides closely watching activities of a child which falls under the above symptoms, clinically it can also be diagnosed by various imaging techniques of brain like:-

1. Neurometrics.
2. PET scans.
3. FMRI or SPECT


TREATMENT OF ATTENTION DEFICIT HYPERACTIVITY SYNDROME
The treatment of Attention deficit hyperactivity syndrome includes medications such as methylphenidate (Ritalin) or dextroamphetamine (Dexedrine), which stimulates the areas of the brain responsible for focus, attention, and impulse control. The medicinal Treatment should be carried out with structured classroom management, parent education (to address discipline and limit-setting), and tutoring and/or behavioral therapy for the child.
