Bursae are fluid-filled sacs or cavities that helps to prevent friction between the tendon and the bone or muscles around the joints. We have around 150 bursae in our whole body. Bursae make our joint's movement very easy. A condition in which Bursae get inflammed or swelled and fluid is infected is known as Bursitis. Bursitis may be possible in any bone of joints like elbow, hip, knee, ankle or shoulder etc. In bursitis, patient has severe pains in their joints.
Causes and symptoms:
As we know that Inflammation of bursa may happen in any joint. Some causes are general for all joints. Main causes for bursitis disease are overuse of repeated physical activity, any injury during accidents, excessive pressure on joints etc. There are four bursae in our knee and all may inflammed in bursitis disease. Infections may also cause of bursitis. Pains in affected bursa, slightly swelling, redness and warmth feeling are main symptoms of bursitis.

Trochanteric (Hip) Bursitis
Prepatellar (Kneecap) Bursitis
Treatment:
Treatment of bursitis is not very difficult; you can reduce your pain by self care and some basic home treatments. You should take rest and apply ice packs to release swelling. If you have bursitis because of any infection then you should take antibiotics.
