INFORMATION ON UVEITIS:-

Uvea is an important part of eyes. Uvea contains many blood vessels, arteries, capillaries which carry blood to eye. When this uvea gets infected then it results in the disease called “Uveitis”.


CAUSES OF UVEITIS:-

The various causes which leads to the disease called uveitis are:-

1. Virus like shingles, mumps or herpes simplex.
2. A fungus called histoplasmosis.
3. Parasites like toxoplasmosis.
4. Injury to eye.


SYMPTOMS OF UVEITIS:-

1. Sensitivity to light.
2. Blurry vision.
3. Pain in eyes.
4. Redness of eyes.


TREATMENT OF UVEITIS:-

The medicinal treatment of uveitis can be carried out by prescribing eye drops especially corticosteroids and pupil dilators. These drugs can reduce pain and inflammation.

If uveitis is in conjugation with glaucoma, cataract, Neovascularization then surgical treatment is needed. Uveitis can also be treated with laser surgical methods.
