INFORMATION ON RETINAL DETACHMENT:-

A retinal detachment is a serious problem, which occurs when the retina get detached from its supportive tissue. The retina will not function when these layers are detached if it is left untreated, permanent vision loss may result.

CAUSES OF RETINAL DETACHMENT:-

The various causes which are responsible for retinal detachment are:-

1. Eye injury.
2. High level of nearsightedness.
3. Cataract surgery.
4. Diabetes.
5. Sickle cell disease.


SYMPTOMS OF RETINAL DETACHMENT:-

1. Vision becomes blurry.
2. Sudden notice of spots, floater and flash of light.
3. Poor vision.


TREATMENT OF RETINAL DETACHMENT:-

There are various surgical methods for the treatment of retinal detachment like laser photocoagulation in which leaking blood vessels and new blood vessels are destroyed with laser beam. Injecting silicone oil which keeps detached retina in place. It is always a possibility of getting correct vision after surgery if retinal detachment is treated in very early stage.
