NEARSIGHTEDNESS (MYOPIA)

INFORMATION ON NEARSIGHTEDNESS:-

When a person is capable of viewing near by object or can read book easily but, incapable of viewing distance object such as banner, sigh boards etc, then we can say person is suffering from nearsightedness or myopia.

In case of nearsightedness frequent change of vision is generally noticed.


CAUSES OF NEARSIGHTEDNESS:-

The various factors which lead to the development of nearsightedness (myopia) are:-

1. Too long shape of eyeball.
2. Too much straining of eyes by watching T.V for hours or working on computes for long periods.
3. Diseases like cataract, pinkeye.


SYMPTOMS OF NEARSIGHTEDNESS:-

1. Headache.
2. Eyestrain.
3. Feel fatigue while driving or playing.


TREATMENT OF NEARSIGHTEDNESS:-

Nearsightedness can be cured by wearing proper glasses which is concave in shape, contact lenses can also be used.

Refractive surgery like LASIK can also be employed for the treatment of nearsightedness.
