INFORMATION ON DRY EYES:-

Dry eyes results in due to lack of lubrication and moisture content of the eye. Dry eyes can also result in the degradation in the quality and quantity of tears with irritation and rough feeling. If dry eye is left untreated it can also result in damage of cornea.

CAUSES OF DRY EYES:-

The various causes which results in the condition called dry eyes are:-

1. Improper production of tears from gland in eyes.
2. Side effect of medicines of birth control, Parkinson’s disease, menopause pills.
3. Dry eyes can also be result of long term wearing of contact lenses.
4. Dry eyes can also be result of bad habits like smoking.
5. Incomplete closure of eyelid.

SYMPTOMS OF DRY EYES:-

1. Rough feeling in eyes.
2. Burning sensation.
3. Inefficient tear production.
4. Foreign body sensation.

TREATMENT OF DRY EYES:-

So far there is no proper medication is available for dry eyes, but the problem related to dry eyes can be reduce by use of artificial tears, it is a medicine that provide relief from dryness, scratchiness and burning sensation. Restasis eye drop can also be used for artificial production of tears.
