AMBLYOPIA (LAZY EYES)

INFORMATION ON AMBLYOPIA:-

Amblyopia is also known as “lazy eye”. Amblyopia is a condition due which vision of one eye does not develop fully as compared to other eye. Amblyopia is a problem which is present right from birth. If Amblyopia is untreated it can result in functional blindness in the affected eye.

CAUSES OF AMBLYOPIA:-
The various causes which leads to Amblyopia are:-

1. Unequal focus of eye.
2. Can be inherited.
3. Cataract.
4. Uncorrected refractive error in eye.


SYMPTOMS OF AMBLYOPIA:-

1. Improper movement of one eye.
2. One eye will always pointing toward nose.
3. Eyestrain.
4. Headache.
5. Visual acuity.


TREATMENT OF AMBLYOPIA:-

The treatment of Amblyopia is usually done by vision therapy exercise which helps both eyes to work in coordination.

Sometimes the doctor place a patch over the stronger eye in order to force the weaker eye to learn to see. This Patching may be required for several hours each day or even all day long, and may continue for weeks or months.

Surgery can also prove to be best for amblyopic children.
