Wallenbergs Syndrome
INFORMATION ON WALLENBERG’S SYNDROME:-
Wallenberg’s syndrome may be defined as a neurological disorder affecting voice and swallowing. Wallenberg’s syndrome affects brain, veins, artery and blood vessels.
CAUSES OF WALLENGER’S SYNDROME:-
Blockage of artery in a vertebra or in the brain is the main reason behind the development of wallenger’s syndrome. But it is also believed that side effect of certain medicines can also result in wallenger’s syndrome.
SYMPTOMS OF WALLENGER’S SYNDROME:-
1. Loss of pain sensitivity
2. Loss of temperature sensitivity
3. Facial muscle paralysis
4. Difficulty swallowing
5. Loss of taste
6. Balance problems
7. Feeling of tilt
DIAGNOSIS OF WALLENGER’S SYNDROME:-
Clinically wallenger’s syndrome may be diagnosed by:-
1. CT scan.
2. Electromyography.
3. Ultrasound.
4. Blood test.
TREATMENT OF WALLENGER’S SYNDROME:-
Treatment of wallenger’s syndrome will depend on the severity of symptoms. Treatments are aimed at controlling the symptoms. The type of treatment which proved to be effective are Symptomatic, Feeding tube - if swallowing difficult, Speech therapy, Intraoral devices, Pain relief medication.
