INFORMATION ON SEPTO-OPTIC DYSPLASIA
Septo-Optic Dysplasia - in short - SOD is a very rare congenital brain defect means it is by birth disease. In septo-optic dysplasia development becomes abnormal at optic disk, pituitary deficiencies and sometimes absence of septum pellucidum or corpus callosum. Septum pellucidum is part of brain that separates ventricles of the brain. In other words Septo-Optic Dysplasia is a condition that may happen due to congenital malformations involving the brain.

CAUSES OF SEPTO-OPTIC DYSPLASIA
The actual causes of Septo-Optic Dysplasia are known. Sometimes it has been noticed that causes are related to intrauterine viral infections or diabetes during pregnancy. Antiseizure medications, illicit drugs, alcohol have also been linked to Septo-Optic Dysplasia. In addition vascular abnormalities and uncommonly genetics are thought to play a role.
SYMPTOMS OF SEPTO-OPTIC DYSPLASIA
There are various symptoms those may be found when a child has septo-optic dysplasia disease.
Other Symptoms are:
1. Pituitary deficiencies.
2. Agenesis of the septum pellucidum.
3. Blindness in one eye.
4. Blindness.
5. Pupil dilation in response to light.
6. Nystagmus.
7. Seizures.
8. Jaundice.
9. Intellectual problems.
10. Mental retardation.
11. Developmental delay.
TREATMENT OF SEPTO-OPTIC DYSPLASIA
What treatment will be appropriate for septo-optic dysplasia, is depends on the symptoms of Septo-Optic Dysplasia. Just like if a child has hormone deficiency then treatment will be hormone replacement therapy. If a child have optical problem and condition is severe
