INFORMATION ON SEMANTIC DEMENTIA
Sernantic dementia is termed as a progressive neurodegenerative disorder which causes loss of semantic memory in both the verbal and non-verbal domains. There is a part of our brain that is responsible for understanding anything means words, meanings and concepts. It is a region in front of the ears and known as anterior temporal lobe. In semantic dementia, we losses brain tissues in the temporal lobe. Because of this loss patient will unable to identify anything. Like, if we show a picture of cow to patient than he may understand that it is an animal but unable to identify the name of animal. Semantic dementia is a clinically-defined syndrome, but is associated with predominantly temporal lobe atrophy so that semantic dementia is sometimes called temporal variant FTLD.

Synonyms of Sernantic dementia are:
1. Frontotemporal dementia.
2. Frontal dementia.
3. Pick disease.
4. Primary progressive aphasia.
5. Alzheimer disease.
6. Fluent aphasia.
7. Nonfluent aphasia.
CAUSES OF SEMANTIC DEMENTIA
No current cause is known of semantic dementia. Yet it is caused by Genetic disorder and it runs in families.
SYMPTOMS OF SEMANTIC DEMENTIA
Symptoms of Semantic dementia are:
1. Change in social behavior.
2. Cognitive decline.
3. Language impairments.
4. Change affection and daily activities.
5. Language disturbance.
TREATMENT OF SEMANTIC DEMENTIA
There is no treatment for semantic dementia. Change in behavior may be control which reduces aggressiveness and anger. You can have some mediation such as Anti-depressants to remove some of the symptoms.
