Porencephaly

INFORMATION ON PORENCEPHALY
Porencephaly may be defined as a disorder of the central nervous system involving cavity in a cerebral hemisphere of human brain. The disorder can occur before or after birth. The cysts or cavities proved to be result of destructive lesions and sometimes the result of abnormal development.
CAUSES OF PORENCEPHALY
The main factors which leads to the development of Porencephaly are:-

1. Infection in brain.
2. Stroke.
3. Trauma to brain.
SYMPTOMS OF PORENCEPHALY
The various symptoms that are shown by Porencephaly are:-

1. Delay in mental growth.
2. Delay speech development.
3. Shrinkage of muscles.
4. Large head size.
5. Partial paralysis.
DIAGNOSIS OF PORENCEPHALY
There are various clinical procedures available for diagnosis of Porencephaly:-

1. CT scan.
2. Ultrasonography.
3. MRI.
TREATMENT OF PORENCEPHALY
Treatment of Porencephaly may include physical therapy and medication for seizure disorders, and a shunt for hydrocephalus
