Paresthesia
INFORMATION ON PARESTHESIA
Paresthesia is an abnormal sensation of the skin, such as numbness, tingling, pricking, burning, or creeping on the skin that has no proper cause of occurrence.
Most of the people who have experienced temporary Paresthesia at some time in their lives; it occurs whenever inadvertent pressure is placed on a nerve and causes what many describe as a "pins and needles" feeling.
CAUSES OF PARESTHESIA
The factors which are responsible for the development of Paresthesia are:-
1. Alcoholism
2. Anticonvulsant drugs side effects.
3. Dehydration.
4. Heavy metals.
5. Migraines.
6. Exposure to radiation.
7. Exposure to chemicals or toxins.
SYMPTOMS OF PARESTHESIA
The various symptoms that are shown by a subject with Paresthesia are:-
1. Abnormal sensations which is similar to pins and needles, normally hands, arms, legs, or feet.
2. Burning sensation
3. Prickling sensation
4. Numbness of the toes.
DIAGNOSIS OF PARESTHESIA
The various clinical methods available for diagnosis of Paresthesia are:-
1. Complete physical examination of subject.
2. Urine test.
3. Electromyography.
4. CT scan.
5. MRI.
TREATMENT OF PARESTHESIA
Moving the head from side to side will painlessly remove the feeling of "pins and needles" in less than a minute. A tingly hand or arm is often the result of compression in the bundle of nerves in your neck. Loosening the neck muscles releases the pressure. Compressed nerves lower in the body govern the feet, and standing up and walking around will relieve the sensation
