Multi Infarct

INFORMATION ON MULTI-INFARCT DEMENTIA:-
"Multi-infarct" means that multiple areas in the brain have been injured due to a lack of blood.
Multi-infarct dementia can be defined as the most common form of vascular dementia, which is a degradation in mental function caused by strokes.
CAUSES OF MULTI INFRACT DEMENTIA:-
The main consequences which leads to the development of multi infract dementia are:-
1. Genetic disturbance.
2. Stroke.
3. Hypertension.
4. Soaking.
5. Aherosclerosis.
SYMPTOMS OF MULTI INFRACT DEMENTIA:-
1. frustration.
2. Depression.
3. anxiety.
4. stress.
5. tension.
6. Decreased ability to function independently
7. Decreased interest in daily living activities
8. Lack of spontaneity
9. Localized numbness or tingling
10. Swallowing difficulty
11. Emotional instability.
12. Urinary incontinence.
13. Inability to interact in social or personal situations.
DIAGNOSIS OF MULTI INFRACT DEMENTIA:-
Clinically multi infract dementia can be diagnosed by:-
1. CT scan.
2. MRI.
3. Ultrasound.
TREATMENT OF MULTI INFRACT DEMENTIA:-
So far there is no treatment for multi infract dementia which can reverse the damage that has already occurred. Treatment focuses on prevention of additional brain damage by controlling high blood pressure. Medications may be helpful in controlling aggressive or agitated behaviors or behaviors that are dangerous to the person or to others. The medicines are usually prescribed in very low doses and adjusted as needed. Medications may include antipsychotics, beta-blockers, and serotonin-affecting drugs such as Trazodone, buspirone, or fluoxetine.
