INFORMATION ON MOTOR NEURON:-
Motor neuron diseases may be defined as progressive, degenerative disorders that affect the nerves in the upper or lower parts of the body.

SYMPTOMS OF MOTOR NEURON DISEASE:-
1. Progressive muscle weakness
2. Progressive muscle paralysis
3. Muscle groups affected depend on the
4. loss of sensation in affected areas
5. Difficulty swallowing
6. Limb weakness
7. Slurred speech
8. Impaired gait
9. Facial weakness
10. Muscle cramps
DIAGNOSIS OF MOTOR NEURON DISEASE:-
Clinically motor neuron disease can be clinically diagnosed by:-
1. MRI.
2. Electromyography.
3. Genetic testing.
TREATMENT OF MOTOR NEURON DISEASE:-
So far there is no cure for motor neuron disease. The only medicine that proved to be effective in the course of the disease is riluzole. The medicine functions by blocking the effects of the neurotransmitter glutamate, and is thought to extend the lifespan of an subject suffering from motor neuron disease by only a few months.
Beside this medicinal treatment a subject can also be treated symptomatically by involving involves a variety of health professionals like neurologists, physical therapists, occupational therapists, dieticians, respiratory therapists, social workers, palliative care specialists, specialist nurses and psychologists.
