Mini Syndrome
INTRODUCTION TO MINI STROKES:-
Mini syndrome may be defined as a rare genetic disorder which is characterized by facial paralysis, result of absence or underdevelopment of the 6th and 7th cranial nerves.
CAUSES OF MINI STROKES:-
The main factor which results in development of mini strokes:-
1. Genetic disorder.
2. Use of drugs.
3. Traumatic pregnancy.
4. Interrupted blood flow.
SYMPTOMS OF MINI STROKES:-
1. Facial paralysis
2. Lack of facial expression
3. Inability to smile.
4. Hearing problems.
5. Speech difficulties.
6. Congenital defects.
7. Club foot
8. Missing fingers
DIAGNOSIS OF MINI STROKES:-
Clinically mini strokes can be diagnosed by:-
1. CT scan.
2. MRI.
3. Electromyography.
4. Ultrasonography.
TREATMENT OF MINI SYNDROME:-
The ability to smile has been restored in some cases of Mini syndrome by surgery which transfers nerve and muscle from the thigh to the face. Different surgery can be used to treat eye, limb, and jaw problems. For Childrens with feeding problems, special bottles or feeding tubes are used. Physical and speech therapy can be used to improve control over coordination, speech, and eating.
