Miller Fisher Syndrome
INFORMATION ON MILLER FISHER SYNDROME:-
Miller Fisher syndrome may be defined as a rare acute polyneuropathy which is characterized by abnormal muscle coordination, paralysis of the eye muscles, and absence of the reflexes.
CAUSES OF MILLER FISHER SYNDROME:-
The main factor which leads to the development of miller fisher syndrome are:-
1. Viral infection.
2. Genetic disturbance.
3. Side effect of certain medicines.
SYMPTOMS OF MILLER FISHER SYNDROME:-
1. Muscles weakness.
2. Distinct coordination.
3. Difficulty in opening eyes.
4. Respiratory failure.
5. Absence of reflexes.
DIAGNOSIS OF MILLER FISHER SYNDROME:-
Clinically miller fisher syndrome can be diagnosed by:-
1. MRI.
2. CT scan.
3. Lumber puncture.
4. EMG.
TREATMENT OF MILLER FISHER SYNDROME:-
Treatment for Miller Fisher syndrome is identical to treatment for Miller fisher syndrome: intravenous immunoglobulin or plasmapheresis (a procedure in which antibodies is removed from the blood) and supportive care.
