Microcephaly

INFORMATION ON MICROCEPHALY:-
Microcephaly may be defined as a condition which can be present at birth in which the baby's head is much smaller than normal for an infant of that age and gender.
CAUSES OF MICROCEPHALY:-
The main factors which leads to the development of microcephaly are:-

1. Exposure to hazardous chemicals/substances.
2. Exposure to radiation.
3. Lack of proper vitamins and nutrients in the diet.
4. Infection.
5. Intake of illegal drug and alcohol consumption.
6. Diabetes.
SYMPTOMS OF MICROCEPHALY:-
1. Baby’s head is very small.
2. High-pitched cry.
3. Poor feeding.
4. Seizures.
5. Increased movement of the arms and legs.
6. Developmental delays.
7. Mental retardation.
DIAGNOSIS OF MICROCEPHALY:-
Clinically microcephaly can be diagnosed by:-
1. Ultrasound.
2. X-ray.
3. CT scan.
4. MRI.
5. Blood test.
6. Urine test.
TREATMENT OF MICROCEPHALY:-
So far there is no particular treatment of microcephaly. But a subject can be relief from symptoms by using symptomatic and physical treatment.
