Macrencephaly

INFORMATION ON MACRENCEPHALY:-
Macrencephaly may defined as a physical condition due to which there is an abnormally large, heavy, and malfunctioning brain can result. The brain weight of a subject is greater than average for the age and gender.
CAUSES OF MACRENCEPHALY:-
The main reason for the development of macrencephaly in infants is due to exposure of mother to harmful envoirment like pollution, harmful gases, smoking or it may also a result of side effect of certain medicines.

Injury to child during pregnancy period of mother can also be main factor in development of macrencephaly.
SYMPTOMS OF MACRENCEPHALY:-
1. Large head
2. Large brain
3. Delayed development
4. Corticospinal dysfunction
5. Seizures
6. Asymmetrical head
7. Mental retardation
DIAGNOSIS OF MACRENCEPHALY:-
Clinically macrencephaly can be diagnosed by:-

1. CT scan.
2. MRI.
TREATMENT OF MACRENCEPHALY:-
So far there is no particular treatment for macrencephaly. But a subject can be relieved by employing treatment based on symptoms. Supportive method of treatment can also be used for relaxing the subject.
