Lennox Gastaut Syndrome

INFORMATION ON LENNOX-GASTAUT SYNDROME:-
Lennox-Gastaut syndrome is one of the more severe forms of epilepsy. Lennox-Gastaut syndrome usually develops during preschool years and is characterized by several seizure types and developmental delay
CAUSES OF LENNOX-GASTAUT SYNDROME:-
The main factors which leads to the development of lennox-gastaut syndrome are:-

1. Brain damage.
2. Tuberous sclerosis.
3. Hereditary metabolic diseases.
SYMPTOMS OF LENNOX-GASTAUT SYNDROME:-
1. Abnormal mental development of child.
2. Behavioral disturbances.
3. Seizures.
DIAGNOSIS OF LENNOX-GASTAUT SYNDROME:-
Clinically lennox-gastaut syndrome can be diagnosed by:-

1. MRI.
2. CT scan.
3. EEG.


TREATMENT OF LENNOX-GASTAUT SYNDROME:-
Medications that are useful for controlling the seizures of subjects with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome include Depakote, Frisium, Topamax, and Lamictal.
A type of surgery called a corpus callosotomy proved to be helpful for treating some subjects. The ketogenic diet and the VNS have much lower risks, so subject generally try these approaches before considering callosotomy.
