Lambert Eaton Myasthenic Syndrome
INFORMATION ON LAMBERT-EATON MYASTHENIC SYNDROME:-
Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome may be defined as neuromuscular disorder which leads to the progressive weakness of muscle, usually Lambert-Eaton myasthenic syndrome first noticed in the upper legs and upper arms.
SYNONYMS OF LAMBERT-EATON MYASTHENIC SYNDROME:-
1. Myasthenic syndrome.
CAUSES OF LAMBERT-EATON MYASTHENIC SYNDROME:-
The main factors which leads to the development of Lambert-Eaton myasthenia syndrome are:-
1. Autoimmune disorder.
2. Contraction of muscles.
3. Attack of antibodies.
SYMPTOMS OF LAMBERT-EATON MYASTHENIC SYNDROME:-
1. Weakness/paralysis that varies in severity
2. Drooping head
3. Difficult to climbing stairs
4. Difficult to lifting objects
5. Difficult to talking
6. Difficult to chewing
7. Changes in vision.
8. Blurry vision
9. Abnormalities in blood pressure.
10. Dry mouth.
DIAGNOSIS OF LAMBERT-EATON MYASTHENIC SYNDROME:-
Clinically Lambert-Eaton myasthenia syndrome can be diagnosed by:-
1. EMG.
2. Nerve conduction velocity.
3. Tensilon test.
4. CT scan.
TREATMENT OF LAMBERT-EATON MYASTHENIC SYNDROME:-
For treating Lambert-Eaton myasthenia syndrome it is required to strength up muscles, for that neuromuscular drugs can help proved to be beneficial, neuromuscular drugs also reduces symptoms in some individuals with Lambert-Eaton. Neuromuscular drugs include pyridostigmine bromide (Mestinon), diaminopyridine (DAP), and guanidine.
For patients with small cell lung cancer, treatment of the cancer is the first priority.
