Korsakoff’s Amnesic
INFORMATION ON KORSAKOFF’S AMNESIC SYNDROME:-
Korsakoff's amnesic syndrome may be defined as memory disorder which is result of deficiency of vitamin B1 known as thiamine.
CAUSES OF KORSAKOFF’S AMNESIC SYNDROME:-
The main cause which leads to the development of symptoms of Korsakoff's amnesic syndrome are:-
1. Drinking alcohol regularly.
2. Dietary deficiencies.
3. Prolonged vomiting.
4. Eating disorders.
SYMPTOMS OF KORSAKOFF’S AMNESIC SYNDROME:-
1. Mental impartment
2. Inability to recognize things.
3. Amnesia.
4. Confabulation.
5. Attention deficit.
6. Vision impairment.
DIAGNOSIS OF KORSAKOFF’S AMNESIC SYNDROME:-
Whenever someone addicted to alcohol, and then has the sudden complaining about memory difficulties, it is important to seriously consider the diagnosis of Korsakoff's amnesic syndrome. There is no specific clinical test to diagnose Korsakoff's amnesic syndrome in a patient, a careful exam of the individual's mental state should be rather revealing. Although the patient's ability to confabulate answers may be convincing, checking the patient's retention of factual information, along with the patient's ability to learn new information.
TREATMENT OF KORSAKOFF’S AMNESIC SYNDROME:
Treatment of Korsakoff's amnesic syndromes involves the immediate backing up of thiamine. Treatment also involves in replacement of thiamine and providing proper nutrition and hydration. In some cases, drug therapy is also recommended
