Joubert Syndrome

INFORMATION ON JOUBERT SYNDROME:-
Joubert syndrome may be defined as a rare neurological disorder in which subject losses its control on movement and balance activities.
Joubert syndrome is characterized by absence or undeveloped part of brain which is responsible for hand eye coordination.
CAUSES OF JOUBERT SYNDROME:-
The main cause which is responsible for the development of Joubert syndrome is Genetic disturbance.
SYMPTOMS OF JOUBERT SYNDROME:-
1. Tongue abnormalities.
2. Seizures.
3. Balance problems.
4. Mental retardation.
5. Extra fingers.
6. Extra toes.
7. Cleft lip.
8. Abnormal eye movements.
DIAGNOSIS OF JOUBERT SYNDROME:-
Clinically Joubert syndrome can be identified by:-

1. Careful physical examination by looking up activities of the subject.
2. Evaluation of language and speech function by a trained occupational or speech therapist.
3. MRI of Brain.
4. Abdominal ultrasound.
5. Liver function tests (LFT).
6. Abnormal breathing.
TREATMENT OF JOUBERT SYNDROME:-
Following are the list of the treatment of the Joubert syndrome:-
1. Symptomatic and supportive
2. Physical therapy
3. Occupational therapy
4. Speech therapy
Beside these modes of treatment one should closely observe breathing way of subject.
