De morsier's Syndrome
INTRODUCTION TO DE MORSIER’S SYNDROME:-
De morsier’s syndrome is a rare disorder that present at birth. De morsier’s syndrome leads to undeveloped optic nerve, pituitary gland does not function properly and often a portion of brain tissue is not formed.
CAUSES OF DE MORSIER’S SYNDROME:-
The main factors which leads to the development of De morsier’s syndrome are:-
1. Obesity.
2. Genetic disorder.
SYMPTOMS OF DE MORSIER’S SYNDROME:-
1. Pupil’s false response to light
2. False deviation of the eyes
3. hormonal problems
4. Hypotonia (low tone)
5. Seizures
6. Learning disabilities or mental retardation.
7. Jaundice
DIAGNOSIS OF DE MORSIER’S SYNDROME:-
De morsier’s syndrome can be diagnosed by following clinical procedure:-
1. MRI.
2. CT scan.
TREATMENT OF DE MORSIER’S SYNDROME:-
Treatment for De morsier’s syndrome is symptomatic. Hormone deficiencies which are result of De morsier’s syndrome can be treated with hormone replacement therapy. The optical problems associated with De morsier’s syndrome are generally not treatable.
