Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

INFORMATION ON CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a muscle atrophy with hand and fingers .It results in no sensation, tingling and weakness. Carpal tunnel syndrome is firmly on the middle of the wrist.
SYMPTOMS OF CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME

The patient feels weakness in his hands, No sensations in the thumb or fingers, Wrist or hand pain in one or both hands sometimes pain extends to the elbow. The grip is weak and feels difficulty to carry bags( It is general complaint of the patient).
CAUSES OF CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME
Carpal tunnel syndrome is general in people who do cyclic motions of the hand and wrist, as typing. If the wrist is poorly positioned, and there isn’t sufficient space for the middle nerve to travel to the hand.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is caused by stress on the middle nerve at the point where it passes through the wrist. The nerve enters between the hand and wrist bones and the stiff membrane that holds the bones together. This gap is called the carpal tunnel.
This disease usually occurs to the age group of 30 to 60 years old, and five to six times more common in women than men. Some conditions attached with Carpal tunnel syndrome include pregnancy, This occurs because of changes in hormone that cause fluid retention and swelling of the tissues.

Carpal tunnel syndrome is attached with other conditions which includes renal failure, obesity, high blood pressure, rheumatoid arthritis and recent tuberculosis.
TREATMENT OF CARPAL TUNNEL SYNDROME
The basic treatment is to wear night splints on the wrist for several weeks. Modifications can be done in the work area and use of many specialized devices designed in the workplace, to reduce the stress on wrist.
