Blepharospasm

What is Blepharospasm
Blepharospasm can be defined as the involuntary closure of the eyes and lids. Condition characterized by uncontrollable, forcible closure of the eyelids caused by a progressive dysfunction of the nerve that controls muscles around the eye. Less serious form may cause eyelid twitches or tics.
 
Causes of Blepharospasm
Blepharospasm can be caused by abnormal functioning of the brains basal ganglia.
 
Signs And Symptoms of Blepharospasm
Symptoms of Blepharospasm are:-
1) Dryness of the eyes
2) Tics or twitches of the eye muscles
3) Sensitivity to the sun and bright light
4) Excessive blinking of the eyes
Treatment of Blepharospasm
Treatment of Blepharospasm includes -
1) Botulin toxin injections
2) Drug therapy
3) Surgery
4) Dark glasses, for sunlight sensitivity
5) Stress management and support groups can help sufferers deal with the disease and prevent social isolation.

Prevention of Blepharospasm

Not Preventable.
