Arachnoids Cysts
INFORMATION ON ARACHNOIDS CYSTS
Arachnoid cysts may be defined as the fluid-filled sacs that may develop between the surface of the brain and the cranial base or on the Arachnoid membrane.
CAUSES OF ARACHNOIDS CYSTS
The factors which are responsible for the development of Arachnoid cysts are:-
1. Infection.
2. Congenital present.
3. Abnormal formation of the subarachnoid space.
4. Complications of surgery or trauma.
5. Tumors.
SYMPTOMS OF ARACHNOIDS CYSTS
1. Weakness.
2. Headache.
3. Paralysis.
4. Loss of control of muscles.
5. Seizures.
DIAGNOSIS OF ARACHNOIDS CYSTS
In order to detect the symptoms of arachnoids cysts following clinical procedures should be employed:-
1. MRI.
2. CT scan.
3. Ultrasonography.
TREATMENT OF ARACHNOIDS CYSTS
Treatment for arachnoids cysts is symptomatic. When symptoms warrant, the surgical placement of a shunt may be required to remove pressure from the cyst.
