Anencephaly

ANENCEPHALY


INFORMATION ON ANENCEPHALY:-

Anencephaly may be defined as the condition that present at birth and affects the formation of the brain and the skull bones that surround the head. Anencephaly results in the minimal development of the brain.


CAUSES OF ANENCEPHALY:-

The factors which leads to the development of anencephaly are:-

1. Defect in neural tube.
2. Inherited genes.

SYMPTOMS OF ANENCEPHALY:-

1. absence of bony covering over the back of the head.
2. missing bones around the front and sides of the head.
3. folding of the ears.
4. roof of the child's mouth does not completely close, leaving an opening that can extend into the nasal cavity.
5. heart defects


DIAGNOSIS OF ANENCEPHALY:-

In order to clinically check the presence of anencephaly, the following method should be considered:-

1. Alpha-fetoprotein test during pregnancy.
2. Amniocentesis test.
3. Ultrasound.
4. Blood test.

TREATMENT OF ANENCEPHALY:-

There is no cure or standard medical treatment for anencephaly.
