Alexander Disease
INFORMATION ON ALEXANDER DISEASE
Alexander Disease is an extremely rare, progressive, neurological disorder that usually becomes apparent during early childhood. Alexander Disease belongs to a group of rare disorders known as leukodystrophies, which are characterized by degenerative changes of the white matter of the brain.

CAUSES OF ALEXANDER DISEASE
The main factor which leads to the development of Alexander disease is genetic disorder.
SYMPTOMS OF ALEXANDER DISEASE
1. Mental degradation.
2. Abnormal shape of brain.
3. Accumulation of water in brain.
4. Failure to thrive.
5. Restricted movement.
DIAGNOSIS OF ALEXANDER DISEASE
1. Genetic test of blood.
2. MRI.
TREATMENT OF ALEXANDER DISEASE
There is no cure for Alexander Disease. The treatment for Alexander disease is symptomatic and supportive. Hydrocephaly (water on the brain) may be partially relieved by surgery, in which a shunt can drain away some of the fluid causing the pressure..
