What is Urinary Tract Infection
Urinary tract infection occurs when bacteria from outside the body get into the urinary tract and results inflammation and infection. The fifty percent women are infected with UTI in her life time.
Causes of Urinary Tract Infection
Bacteria is a most common factor of UTI (Urinary tract infection). Once these bacteria enter the urethra they move upwards and results infection in the bladder or other parts of the urinary tract. Second common cause of (Urinary tract infection) is sexual intercourse.
Waiting too long to urinate is also a one of the factor of causing Urinary tract infection. The bladder has a muscle type structure that is stretches to hold the urine and compact when the urine is released. Waiting too long to urinate is caused the bladder's muscle weaken, so that the bladder may not fully empty and some urine is still left in the bladder, which increases the risk factor of urinary tract infection ( bladder infection).
Signs and Symptoms of Urinary Tract Infection
following are the common symptoms of Urinary tract infection -
1) when the urine is released, sharp pain or burning sensation in the urethra.
2) Very little urine is released
3) blooded urination
4) frequently urination
5) Soreness in the lower abdomen, back or sides.
6) Some times person feels the chills and fever, when the bacteria enter the ureters and spread in the kidney.
Treatment of Urinary Tract Infection
the treatment of Urinary tract infection is depends upon the patient's history and the urine tests. Ant biotical drugs are very helpful in the treatment of Urinary tract infection.
Trimethoprim, ampicillin, amoxicillin, and nitrofurantoin are the most common drug in the uncomplicated UTIs (Urinary tract infection). Urinary tract infection can be cured with 1 or 2 days of treatment (in the uncomplicated case).There is requirement of longer treatment if the infection occurs because of Mycoplasma or Chlamydia, which are treated with trimethoprim, tetracycline and doxycycline. Various drugs and a heating pad are also available to relieve the pain of a UTI (Urinary tract infection).
Prevention
1) During treatment it is better to avoid coffee, alcohol and some spicy food.
2) Avoid smoking, because smoking is a one of the big factor of bladder cancer.
3) Drink plenty of water every day.
4) Don't resist the urge to urinate, Urinate when you feel the need.
5) Take showers instead of tub baths.
6) Cleanse the genital area before sexual intercourse.
7) Avoid using feminine hygiene sprays, which may irritate the urethra.
