What is Renal Vein Thrombosis
Renal Vein Thrombosis can be defined as a form of clotting in the renal vein or we can say that a blood clot that drains blood from the kidney. It is also known as a Occlusion - renal vein .
Causes of Renal Vein Thrombosis
Renal Vein Thrombosis is not very common situation mostly it may occurs after trauma to the abdomen or back .Tumor is another cause of this disease. It may also cause by scar formation (stricture) or other blockage of the vein. It may be associated with nephrotic syndrome.
Some children may be affected by this disease after severe dehydration. Dehydration is the most common cause of Renal Vein Thrombosis .
Signs And Symptoms of Renal Vein Thrombosis
Common Symptoms of Renal Vein Thrombosis are given below -
1) Blooded Urine
2) Low urine output
3) Low back pain
4) Flank Pain
Treatment of Renal Vein Thrombosis
The main goal of the treatment is to reduce the formation of clots reducing the risk of the clot traveling to other locations in the body. Anticoagulants are very helpful to prevent formation of new clots . Bed rest or limited activity may be recommended for a brief period.
Prevention
There is no particular method of prevention for Renal Vein Thrombosis but some dietary precautions may reduce risk of dehydration which is the main factor of causing this disease.
