What is Renal Underperfusion
Renal Underperfusion can be defined as an abnormally high level of nitrogen-type wastes in the bloodstream. It is caused by conditions that reduce blood flow to the kidneys. The alternative names of this disease are Azotemia - Prerenal, Uremia and Prerenal azotemia.
Causes of Renal Underperfusion
Renal Underperfusion is very common disease mostly it occurs in hospitalized patients. The main function of the kidney is to filter the blood. When the volume of blood flow through the kidney decreases , blood filtration is also decreases. It results the waste products remain in our blood stream and urine formation is stopped .It also affects the internal structure of the kidney.
These waste products work as a poison for our body when they accumulate and reducing the ability of organs to function. Accumulation of the waste product is the main cause of Renal Underperfusion.
Signs and Symptoms of Renal Underperfusion
Symptoms of Renal Underperfusion are given below -
1) Fatigue
2) Confusion
3) Pale skin color
4) Rapid pulse
5) Dry mouth
6) Swelling
7) Thirst
8) Abdominal pain
9) Frequent urination
Treatment of Renal Underperfusion
The treatment is required to reduce the symptoms and control the causes. Hospitalization is often required. Treatment of peritoneal dialysis and Hemodialysis. Intravenous fluids may used to increase blood volume. Medication may be used to increase the cardiac output and increase blood pressure.
Prevention
Prompt treatment of any condition that decrease the force of blood flow through the renals may help to prevent Renal Underperfusion from developing.
