Nephrogenic Diabetes

what is Nephrogenic diabetes insipidus

Nephrogenic diabetes insipidus is a condition caused by a renal failure to respond to normal levels of vasopressin. Acquired Nephrogenic diabetes insipidus is the alternative names of Nephrogenic diabetes insipidus .

Causes of Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus

Nephrogenic diabetes insipidus occurs when our kidneys are not capable to conserve water as they perform their function of filtering blood. ADH is a hormone which controlled the amount of conserved water.

ADH hormone is produced in the brain, known as a hypothalamus and released and stored from the pituitary gland (It is a small gland at the base of the brain). When the diabetes insipidus is caused by lack of ADH hormone, is called central diabetes insipidus. When diabetes insipidus is caused by renal failure to respond to ADH, the condition is known as a Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus. Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus includes a defect in the renal parts (that reabsorb water back into the blood stream).

There may be some genetic reason of causing Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus. Some Kidney diseases such as polycystic kidney disease may results Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus.
