When the diabetes insipidus is caused by lack of ADH hormone, is called central diabetes insipidus. When diabetes insipidus is caused by renal failure to respond to ADH, the condition is known as a Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus. Nephrogenic Diabetes Insipidus includes a defect in the renal parts (that reabsorb water back into the blood stream).
