What is Membranous Nephropathy
Membranous Nephropathy is also known as a Extra membranous glomerulonephritis,Glomerulonephritis-membranous,Membranous glomerulonephritis and Membranous GN.It can be defined as a renal disorder that occurs because of changes in the glomerular basement membrane and inflammation of the glomerulus.
Causes of Membranous Nephropathy
the glomeruli are the inner structures of the kidney which are made of some small capillaries surrounded by membranes which filters the blood to form urine. When the capillary wall of the glomerular basement membrane is increases in size then Membranous nephropathy occurs. It may also causes by appearance as asymptomatic excretion of protein in the urine. The ratio of occurrence of this disorder is 2 out of 10,000 people. Commonly it occurs after age of 40.
Symptoms of Membranous Nephropathy
Common symptoms are given below-
1) Swelling ( around the eyes , feet, abdomen)
2) Poor Appetite
3) excess urination
4) high blood pressure
5) foamy urine
6) weight gain
Treatment of Membranous Nephropathy
Treatment is required to reduce the symptoms and control the growth of disease. Treatment of Membranous Nephropathy includes the medication such as corticosteroids or immunosuppressive medications and antihypertensive and diuretic medications.
Antibiotics are helpful to reduce the infection. Dietary changes are also recommended I the treatment of this disease such as low salt or low cholesterol .
