What is lupus nephritis

lupus nephritis is an uncontrolled process that can responsible for complete kidney failure. It can be defined as a damaging inflammation of the renal ( which can occur in the person with lupus).

Causes of lupus nephritis

SLE (systemic lupus erythematosus) is a common factor for causing lupus nephritis disease .It is a disease of immune system. SLE is very harmful for kidney , brain, skin , joints.

Common causes are given below-
1) Viruses
2) Infections
3) Some environmental causes
4) Some genetic reason
5) Gender

Signs and Symptoms of lupus nephritis

Following are the common symptoms of lupus nephritis-
1) High Blood Pressure
2) Swelling around the eyes , feet , abdomen and fingers
3) Weight gain
4) Blooded urine
Joint pain, chest pain, cough, fever, mouth ulcer, neurologic changes, rash are the symptoms of SLE.

Treatment of lupus nephritis

Treatment of lupus nephritis is depends upon the symptoms of the disease. The main goal of treatment is to improve the renal function. To reduce the effect of symptoms immunosuppressive medications and Corticosteroids are useful. Dialysis may be needed in the acute or chronic kidney failure. To treat kidney failure (resulting from lupus nephritis), kidney transplant may be recommended.

Prevention

There is no known prevention method for lupus nephritis.
