Menstrual Problems

Menstruation period differs for every woman. Even two sisters of same mother can have different cycles one sisters period cycle can be regular while others can be very irregular. There is no perfect reason for it. There can be many menstrual problems which can occur with menstruation.

Few main menstrual problems in women are:-pain, heavy bleeding, spotting or missed periods. These menstrual problems may be sometimes uncomplicated and may respond well to medication or simple surgical procedures while few of the menstrual problems could have dangerous consequences if not being treated without delay. So if you have any doubts about your menstrual problems, should consult your doctor or gynecologist.

Major Menstrual Disorders
• Many women may have discomfort like sore, swollen breasts, minor pain in the lower abdomen, and nervousness before their periods.
• When the menstrual flow starts few women may have mild cramps.
• Symptoms can be more severe in few women. These conditions can be so severe that proper medical attention or care has to be taken. These problems can be:-

1. Very painful periods the medical term for this problem is dysmenorrhea. This is most common in young women who have never borne children.
2. Heavy bleeding during periods and have lost almost 3 ounces of blood over the course of a period. Period lasts more than seven days, or you have two periods are spaced less than 21 days apart.
3. Heavy or lengthy uterine bleeding occurring at regular intervals may also be one of the major problems of menstrual disorder.
4. extraordinarily short or long cycles
5. sometimes failure to menstruate and sometimes early menstruation
6. Premenstrual irritability and mood swings most sufferers have mood swings, irritability, and bursts of temper four to five days before menstruating, during or following ovulation, or from ovulation through the first days of their period. Other symptoms are bloating, sore breasts, weight gain, extreme depression, confusion, and insomnia. These symptoms usually disappear with the beginning of the menstrual flow.
7. Toxic shock syndrome
Few Menstrual Problems in medical terms:-
• Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS)
Premenstrual Syndrome, or PMS,is the symptoms which occurs usually just before menstrual bleeding begins. The amount and range of symptoms vary widely.

Some of the symptoms of PMS especially when hormonal balance change are,
    • temporary (water) weight gain
    • bloated feeling
    • headaches
    • cramps
    • tender breasts
    • tension
    • skin outbreaks and depression
    • acne
    • fatigue
    • backaches
    • sore breasts
    • constipation
    • diarrhea
    • food cravings
    • depression
    • feeling blue
    • irritability
    • difficulty concentrating
    • difficulty handling stress
Prevention of PMS:-Exercises, massage, relaxation techniques, and prescription medication may be helpful in overcoming these problems.

Amenorrhea:-
Amenorrhea is the term given to an lack or abnormal stoppage of menstruation Amenorrhea is mainly the cause of stress; sever dieting including eating disorders, increased levels of exercise, and illness in college women especially. Or it can be due to pregnancy.

Dysmenorrhea
Painful menstruation is termed as Dysmenorrhea. Experiencing some pain and cramping is a normal part of the menstrual cycle. But if this menstrual pain obstructs your normal activities, you should visit your doctor.

Toxic Shock Syndrome(TSS)
TSS is caused by toxin-producing staphylococcus bacteria. Toxic shock syndrome occurs mostly in young women who insert a tampon into the vagina which produces small tears or ulcerations that allow the bacteria to enter the rest of the body during their menstrual periods, this can happen especially in women who use high-absorbency tampons. Symptoms of TSS are you may have a fever over 102 F, vomiting, diarrhea, and a rash on the hands or feet. These symptoms can quickly lead to loss of blood pressure and shock.
