Diabetes insipidus

Diabetes insipidus is a condition in which our kidneys are not capable to conserve water. It is an abnormal enhancement in urine output. it is totally different from diabetes.

Causes of Diabetes insipidus

the main cause of Diabetes insipidus is damage of pituitary gland and hypothalamus in the brain. This damage may be caused by inflammation, tumor, and injury to the head or surgery. Some genetic reasons also may cause of Diabetes insipidus. Mainly the hypothalamus makes a hormone which is responsible for making concentrated urine.
In diabetes insipidus there is deficiency of vasopressin .Our kidneys are unable to reabsorb the extra filtered water without vasopressin. This causes a frequent loss of water in the form of dilute urine.

Signs and Symptoms

The symptoms of Diabetes insipidus are given below -

1) Excessive thirst
2) Excessive urine volume

Treatment for Diabetes insipidus

its treatment depends upon the cause .Vasopressin is very useful to control the Diabetes insipidus. Which is normally taken in the form of tablets, injections, and nasal spray. This controls he food balance, urine output and prevent from the dehydration.

Prevention

Some cases are not preventable .Take early treatment for infections, tumors and injuries . This may reduce risk .
