Craniopharyngiomas is one type of brain tumor. Mostly children are affected by this disease. These tumors are begins in the nerves and pituitary gland that relay vision from eyes to the brain and spread in to the base of the brain.

Causes of Craniopharyngiomas

Causes of Craniopharyngiomas are still unknown but it may be genetic. Some environmental factor like food and chemicals can be causes of Craniopharyngiomas.

Signs and Symptoms

Signs of Craniopharyngiomas are given below -

1) Headache
2) Vomiting
3) difficulty in vision
4) Fatigue
5) Changes in weight
6) Changes in behavior

Hypothalamus and pituitary gland produce some hormones that are responsible to send instruction to other part of body. The tumor affects the release of these hormones. This hormonal change affects the growth of child, delayed puberty.

Treatment for Craniopharyngiomas

The treatment of Craniopharyngiomas mainly includes surgery to completely remove the tumor and prevent brain, visual function and pituitary. Radiation treatment is needed if the tumor is not completely removed. The treatment of this disease is depends upon the type of tumor.
