Snoring
INFORMATION ON SNORING:-
Snoring may be defined as the vibration that causes particles in the air to form sound waves. While we are in condition of asleep then, turbulent air flow can cause the tissues of the nose and throat to vibrate and give rise to phenomena of disturbance called snoring.
CAUSES OF SNORING:-
The factors which leads to the development of disturbance of sleep called snoring are:-
1. Sleeping position.
2. Medications and alcohol.
3. Loss of muscle tone.
4. Narrowed airway.
5. Mouth breathing.
SYMPTOMS OF SNORING:-
1. Excessive daytime sleeping
2. Morning headaches
3. Recent weight gain
4. Awakening in the morning not feeling rested
5. Awaking at night feeling confused
6. Change in your level of attention, concentration, or memory
7. Observed pauses in breathing during sleep
TREATMENT OF SNORING:-
Based on the results of the clinical sleep study, you will be treated with a series of options. These will generally include:-
1) Lifestyle modification.
2) Surgery
3) appliances (mainly oral appliances constructed by a dentist experienced in treatment of snoring and sleep apnea, but also other appliances such as nasal dilators)
4) CPAP (a continuous positive airway pressure appliance which blows room air into the back of the throat thus preventing it from collapse).
