Sinusitis is the inflammation of the mucous membrane of any sinus that causes headache and other cold symptoms. Sinusitis can be divided in two parts -

1) Acute Sinusitis
2) Chronic Sinusitis

Acute sinusitis -

Chronic Sinusitis

1) Allergies
2) Asthma
3) Temperature and humidity
4) Narrow sinuses
5) Defective mucus membrane
6) Dehydration
7) poor air quality
8) Weak immune system
9) Hormones

CAUSES OF SINUSITIS:-

Common cold is the main cause of Sinusitis. This common cold is caused by some viral infection. This cold may cause inflammation of the sinusitis.

SYMPTOMS OF SINUSITIS:-

Common symptoms of Sinusitis are given below –
1) Headaches
2) General fatigue
3) Sore throat
4) Bad breath
5) Pain in upper jaw
6) Postnasal drip
7) Facial pain
8) Swelling in eye lids
9) Cough

TREATMENT OF SINUSITIS:-

Many times the sinusitis is associated with asthma or allergies. Acute bacterial sinusitis is mostly treated with antibiotics. But it is not effective in chronic sinusitis. Corticosteroids may be prescribed for intense inflammation of the sinuses. Other treatment methods includes Decongestants, antihistamines, pain relievers and surgery.
