If scarlet fever is left untreated then, serious complications such as heart disease or kidney inflammation can develop. Scarlet fever is also known as scarlati.

CAUSES OF SCARLET FEVER:-
Scarlet fever is a result of bacteria called Group a streptococcal bacteria. Streptococci can be highly toxic microbes that can cause strep throat, wound or skin infections, pneumonia, and serious kidney infections, as well as scarlet fever.

DIAGNOSIS OF SCARLET FEVER:-
For identifying the presence of scarlet fever doctor may look for the characteristic rash as well as the "strawberry tongue". If any doubt persists then, laboratory tests can be used to make a final determination. Blood tests, for example, can distinguish between a bacterial infection and a viral infection. A throat culture can also be used to do this.

TREATMENT OF SCARLET FEVER:-
If a subject carry rash and the doctor suspects scarlet fever, he or she will usually be diagnosed by throat culture (a painless swab of throat secretions) to see if the bacteria grow in the pathology lab. Once a strep infection is confirmly diagnosed then, doctor will likely prescribe an antibiotic for about 10 days.
