Rhinitis

INFORMATION ON RHINITIS:-
Rhinitis can be defined as an infection and swelling of the mucous membrane of the nose. There are various types of Rhinitis -
1) Viral Rhinitis
2) Allergic Rhinitis
3) Atrophic Rhinitis
4) Vasomotor Rhinitis

Viral Rhinitis – It is also known as a acute rhinitis or common cold. It results fever, chills, coughing ….etc.

Allergic Rhinitis – It is a common allergic reaction (swelling of the membrane inside the nose). It results sneezing and nasal congestion and runny nose.

Atrophic Rhinitis – It is a form of chronic rhinitis. It causes the nasal passages to widen and dry out. Atrophic rhinitis occurs when the mucous membrane becomes thin and harder.

Vasomotor Rhinitis – It is also a form of chronic rhinitis or non allergic rhinitis. Symptoms of Vasomotor rhinitis are same as allergic rhinitis but causes are different.


CAUSES OF RHINITIS:-

There are various causes of rhinitis, which are given below -

Allergic Rhinitis

1) Mold spores
2) Dust mites
3) Animal dander
4) Bacterial infection
5) smoking
6) Perfumes, chemicals and cosmetics can cause allergic rhinitis

Non Allergic Rhinitis

1) change in atmosphere
2) smoking
3) odors
4) temperature (mainly in low temperature)


SYMPTOMS OF RHINITIS:-

Common symptoms of rhinitis includes -
1) Runny nose
2) Sneezing
3) Coughing
4) Nasal congestion
5) Blocked nose
6) Sinusitis
7) Pruritus

TREATMENT OF RHINITIS-

The main goal of treatment of rhinitis is to reduce the allergy symptoms. But it is impossible to completely avoid the environmental allergies, but if you take some precautions then it is possible to minimize the allergic effect. Such as using air purifier if you have an allergy from the dust. Drug therapy is also the important part of treatment of rhinitis. Other treatment method includes immune therapy. In this regular injection of the allergen is given. If you have some rhinitis problem then you should give attention on your life style and on your regular diet.
