Laryngitis

INFORMATION ON LARYNGITIS:-
Laryngitis is an inflammation or infection of the mucus membrane of the larynx or it is the complete loss of voice.


CAUSES OF LARYNGITIS:-
Viral infection or bacterial infection is the common cause of laryngitis. Some other causes are given below –

1) Smoking
2) Allergies
3) vocal overuse
4) Infection
5) Direct trauma
6) Contact with acidic substances
7) sprit drinking


SYMPTOMS OF LARYNGITIS:-
Symptoms of laryngitis are given below –
1) difficulty in speaking
2) sore throat
3) mild fever
4) Headache
5) Cough


TREATMENT OF LARYNGITIS:-

Acute laryngitis usually reduces by itself with in a week. For good results of the treatment take proper precautions such as always drink plenty of fluids, avoidance of excessively swalling and coughing, use pain killers (paracetamol). Gargling is also useful. Menthol inhalation is helpful to clear the airways. Avoidance of shouting, talking, singing.
Vocal therapy is also useful in the treatment of laryngitis. Smoking is very harmful in this case.
