Balance Disorders
INFORMATION ON BALANCE DISORDERS:-
Balance disorder may be defined as a disturbance that causes an individual to feel unsteady, giddy, woozy, or have a sensation of movement, spinning, or floating. Labyrinth, organ in our inner ear, is an important part of our balance system. The labyrinth interacts with other systems in the body, such as the eyes (visual) and bones and joints (skeletal) systems, to maintain the body's position. These systems, along with the brain and the nervous system, can be the source of balance problems.
CAUSES OFBALANCED DISORDERS:-
The main factors which leads to the development of the balanced disorders are:-
1. Viral Infections bacterial
2. Bacterial infections.
3. Head injury.
4. Improper blood circulation.
5. Effect of certain medications.
6. Aging.
7. Injuries of the visual or skeletal systems.
SYMPTOMS OF BALANCED DISORDERS:-
Some of the symptoms a subject with a balance disorder may experience are:-
1. A sensation of dizziness or vertigo (spinning).
2. Falling or a feeling of falling.
3. Lightheadedness or feeling woozy.
4. Visual blurring.
5. Disorientation.
6. Nausea.
7. Vomiting.
8. Diarrhea.
9. Faintness.
10. Changes in heart rate and blood pressure.
11. Fear.
12. Anxiety.
13. Panic.
DIAGNOSIS OF BALANCED DISORDERS:-
Clinically balanced disorder can be clinically identified by:-
1. Blood tests.
2. Electronystagmogram.
3. CT scan.
4. MRI.
5. Petrography.
TREATMENT OF BALANCED DISORDERS:-
In many cases, balance problems are mainly caused by the vestibular system or inner ear. Vestibular rehabilitation is an exercise program designed by specially trained physiotherapists to help to compensate for a loss or imbalance within the vestibular system. Additional causes of balance problems include medications, poor vision, gait and balance disorders and other medical conditions, from a drop in blood pressure to brain tumors.
