Ménétrier’s disease may be defined as the disease due to which giant fold of tissue grows in the wall of stomach. These fold of tissue may be inflamated of contain ulcers. Ménétrier’s disease if untreated can lead to stomach cancer.
CAUSES OF MÉNÉTRIER'S DISEASE:-
1. Inflamated tissue.
2. Ulcer content in tissue.
3. Infection by virus.
4. Loss of proteins.
SYMPTOMS OF MÉNÉTRIER'S DISEASE:-
1. Pain in middle part of abdomens.
2. Discomfort and tenderness in abdomen.
3. Loss of appetite.
4. Nausea.
5. Vomiting.
6. Pain like ulcer after meal.
7. Blood in vomit.
8. Swelling in abdomen.
DIAGNOSIS OF MÉNÉTRIER'S DISEASE:-
Clinically Ménétrier’s disease can be diagnosed by following procedures:-
So far no drug therapy has proved beneficial to the subject suffering from Ménétrier’s disease. Some of the subjects with peptic ulcers may benefit from peptic ulcer therapy. Surgery called gastrectomy is employed for subject who have intractable symptoms or whose symptoms cannot be excluded.
