INFORMATION ON HIRSCHSPRUNG’S DISEASE:-
Hirschsprung’s disease is a disease of large intestine. It is generally found in children. Hirschsprung’s disease occurs due to the blockage of intestine as a result of which stool cannot pass through. If not treated the stool will filled in intestine and leads to the damage of the intestine or can cause serious infection to the intestine.
CAUSES OF HIRSCHSPRUNG’S DISEASE:-
Hirschsprung’s disease is disease found in child especially newly born child so we can say Hirschsprung’s disease can be result of hereditary or improper growth of nerve cells.
SYMPTOMS OF HIRSCHSPRUNG’S DISEASE:-
1. Failure to pass meconium.
2. Failure to pass stool immediately after birth (24-48 hrs).
3. Constipation.
4. Vomiting.
5. Poor weight gain.
6. Slow growth.
7. Malabsorption.
DIAGNOSIS OF HIRSCHSPRUNG’S DISEASE:-
Clinically Hirschsprung’s disease can be predicted by employing following test:-
1. Barium X-ray.
2. Rectal examination.
3. Manometry.
4. Biopsy.
PREVENTION FROM HIRSCHSPRUNG’S DISEASE:-
Hirschsprung’s disease in child is prevented surgically. The main aim of the surgery is to remove infected or dead part of the bowel and restore bowel movement.
The surgery is carried out in two phases. Phase 1 is known as “Colectomy” used to remove intestinal blockage. Phases 2 is known as “Pulled through procedure” by which infected or non sensitive part of the bowel is removed and the non infected part if bowel is connect to anus.
