Hemorrhoids

INFORMATION ON HEMORRHOIDS:-

Hemorrhoids are the enlarged veins which are formed around the anus and rectum. These enlarged veins may be located internally or externally (outside the anus).

Hemorrhoid can occur in the formation of lumps or knots. These are also known as piles.

CAUSES OF HEMORRHOIDS:-

1. Constipation.
2. Extra strain while having bowel movement.
3. Obesity.
4. Heavy weight lifting.
5. Pregnancy and childbirth.
6. Long time standing and standing.
7. Diarrhea.


SYMPTOMS OF HEMORRHOIDS:-

1. Severe pain and irritation while passing stool.
2. Itching.
3. Bleeding while passing stool.


DIAGNOSIS OF HEMORRHOIDS:-

1. Check for bleeding in rectum and blood in stool.
2. Anoscope.
3. Proctoscope.
4. Sigmoidoscopy.


PREVENTION FROM HEMORRHOIDS:-

1. Medicinal treatment.
2. Operational treatment.


MEDICINAL TREATMENT OF HEMORRHOIDS:-

The medicinal treatment of hemorrhoids includes the intake of drugs like psyllium (Metamucil) or methylcellulose (Citrucel) which are also known as fiber supplement as bulk stool softener.

Doctor may also recommend taking good source of fiber like fruits, vegetables in addition with good amount of water or fluids.

If problem becomes serious the certain surgical procedure are applied by doctors in addition to immediate hospitalization. The surgical procedures are:-

1. Rubber band ligation.
2. Sclerotherapy.
3. Infrared coagulation.
4. Hemorrhoidectomy.
