Gastroparesis
INFORMATION ABOUT GASTROPARESIS:-
Gastroparesis is a disorder in which subject’s stomach takes too long time to empty its contents.
It is also known as delayed gastric emptying.
It usually occurs in a people who are suffering from diabetes.
Gastroparesis occurs when nerves to the stomach are damaged.
CAUSE OF GASTROPARESIS:-
1. Due to diabetes.
2. Nerves to stomach gets damage or stop working.
3. Postviral syndromes.
4. Anorexia nervosa.
5. Medications.
6. Metabolic disorder.
SYMPTOMS OF GASTROPARESIS:-
1. Heartburn.
2. Nausea.
3. Vomiting of undigested food.
4. Weight loss.
5. Abdominal pain.
6. Loss of appetite.
DIAGNOSIS OF GASTROPARESIS:-
1. Barium X-ray.
2. Gastric manometry.
3. Blood test.
4. Upper endoscopy.
5. Ultrasound.
PREVENTION FROM GASTROPARESIS:-
The primary treatment of Gastroparesis includes the control of diabetes by maintaining control on blood glucose level. This can be achieved by taking proper dose of insulin, oral medicines and what you eat and when.
Several medicines are available to treat Gastroparesis like metoclopramide, erythromycin and domperidone
