INFORMATION ON ESOPHAGITIS:-
Esophagitis is a disease that causes inflammation & swelling of the esophagus. Esophagitis most often caused by acid-containing stomach contents refluxing back up into the esophagus.
CAUSES OF ESOPHAGITIS:-
1. Weakened immune system.
2. Medications such as corticosteroids.
3. Infection due to virus.
4. Nicotine.
SYMPTOMS OF ESOPHAGITIS:-
1. Heartburn.
2. Bleeding.
3. Vomiting of blood.
4. Anemia.
Diagnosis of Esophagitis:-
1. Upper GI X-ray.
2. Endoscopy.
3. Biopsy.
DIAGNOSIS OF ESOPHAGITIS:-
There are two method of prevention of esophagitis:-
1. Medicinal treatment.
2. Operational treatment.
MEDICINAL TREATMENT OF ESOPHAGITIS:-
Medicinal treatment of esophagitis includes medicines which are now available and are effectively reduce or stop the secretion of stomach acid. Other medications increase the strength of the LES muscle. These medicines are usually the most important part of treating esophagitis.
OPERATIONAL TREATMENT OF ESOPHAGITIS:-
Operation is occasionally required to treat esophagitis, especially if a hiatus hernia is present and when medicinal treatment is ineffective. Newer laparoscopic surgery has simplified this procedure.
